Getting to San Miguel de Allende

Getting to

Driving & Parking in San Miguel

  • Driving and parking in SMA can be a challenge.  The roads are very narrow, cobblestone roads and many in the city are one way roads.  Traffic can be pretty crazy!

  • There is no designated parking for Casa Illuminada.  Street parking near the house is extremely scarce and the closest paid parking is about ½ mile or 800 m from the house

Getting around once you are in San Miguel

  • Uber is readily available in San Miguel

  • There are also many taxis available and many operators speak both Spanish and English

  • Taxis from the center of town to Casa Illuminada should cost about $60 pesos ($3.00 US)

  • Buses are available for longer trips such as going to Guanajuato for the day and there are several tour operators in the city.

  • Again, BajioGo is a reputable operator and great source for getting you where you want to go
